Hey there—I’m Sydney, the face behind Capturing Kansas.

I’m a wife, homeschooling mama, and full-time photographer with dirt on my boots, a camera in my hand, and a deep love for preserving the real and raw—whether it’s in a delivery room or a Kansas wheat field.

My photography journey began with Capturing Birth in the sacred spaces of birth stories—capturing the strength, surrender, and beauty of motherhood in its earliest moments. Over time, that deep love for storytelling expanded into something new: a sister brand, Capturing Kansas, created to highlight the grit and grace of rural life, agriculture, and small-town businesses.

Now, when I’m not documenting labor and delivery, you’ll find me photographing the quiet strength of farmers, the rhythm of harvest season, and the everyday beauty of life lived close to the land.

I eloped in a black wedding dress after flipping a coin—and married a Marine. Now, we’re building a beautifully blended life together, raising our kids with the slow, intentional rhythm of farm living and homeschooling along the way

My editing style is warm, natural, and true-to-life—with earthy tones, soft contrast, and a slightly muted palette that honors the grit and beauty of rural living. I aim for a timeless, documentary feel that captures real moments with a touch of polish
